iPad pro audio on 2014 gl1800

Post by hollyboy » Wed Aug 28, 2019 8:36 pm

The audio output on my 2014 gl1800 is terrible from my iPad pro using the lightning connector. All my other apple devices work fine. Anyone else encountered this. Apple sent me a new iPad they suspected a bad lightning port, I works the same as first one. Anyone else encounter this?

I'm not quite understanding what you mean by "terrible" output, but I have had no problem with an iPod that I have used for seven years on my 2012 as my primary music source with all my stored CDs.

My iPad 4 retina works fine as does my iPhone 6. 6s and X but the iPad pro audio is distorted. I went to the iPad pro 512gb to get the extra storage as I have a lot of music. Talked to Honda today and they think it may be because the audio chip in the pro is much more sophisticated.

Ok, how are you connecting the pad to the bike? Lightning to USB, Lightning to 3.5mm adaptor?

I think this is a mixture of the latest IOS mixed with the newer hardware. The adaptor dongle that allows you to use older wired headsets has an audio chip in it and I believe the newer lightning headsets also have a chip in their plug. I believe the latest IOS also doesn’t allow direct audio output from the lightning port of the pro like the older devices could do. Only Apple knows for sure. Have you tried the Apple lightning to USB 3 adaptor?
