08 trunk wiring schematic

Post by Cruzn »

Hey guys. I’m new to the forum. I did a search and could not find anything. My rear speakers weren’t working so after investigating I found that the whole wiring bundle on the left side was cut apparently from the hinge. There are 12 wires, multiple same color combination. I need help. Does anyone have a schematic or advice?? Thank you ahead of time.

According to our most accomplished Goldwing mechanic, Greg, you should buy a new subharness and just replace the one that is cut. If it was one or two wires, I would say repair them, but if most of the bundle is cut, I agree with Greg.

I had a problem with the right side harness, and only one wire was cut, but another was bared, and when they touched, my horn would blow. This happened every time I opened the trunk lid. I repaired the cut wire and wrapped the bared wire, before Greg mentioned that repairing these harnesses is futile and will just happen again. Next time, it will be a new subharness, and likely the other side as well just to get them out of the way for future problems.
It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey

Thank you for your advice. It just seems that it would be so easy to lengthen these wires and reroute. They are very easy to get to.
