2003 Frame defect
Hi Guys !!! A friend of me want to sell a 2003 1800 with a broken frame. Honda dont want to pass it on warranty cause the VIN number is not in the recall and he have a hitch on the bike. My question , as you can see on the photos , Is it possible to repair this frame (Welding)?

Re: 2003 Frame defect
A good tig welder might be able to weld it back. I would put inner sleeve inside to give it strength and also keep everything aligned. Make sure you find a qualified certified tig welder. That welding job could go south in a hurry if someone who doesn't know what they are doing tries to repair it. Weather it is worth the $$$ to get it fixed I don't know.

It would have to be the deal of a lifetime, and even then I would never trust it.GoldPower wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2019 4:14 pm Hi Guys !!! A friend of me want to sell a 2003 1800 with a broken frame. Re: 2003 Frame defect
One of the reasons I sold my 02 back in 08 and bought an 08. I could never get it out of my mind that even though I had the re weld completed there are instances of the frame cracking in places other than what was covered in the recall

He's not alone with cracks there, and I've heard of some having their frames welded too. However, the frame should really be replaced. There are plenty of used frames for sale.

Re: 2003 Frame defect
These small tube cracks are not part of any recall and Honda won’t do anything about them. Best thing to do is swap the frame with a 2005 or newer frame that was strengthened in these areas.
