Help identify part found under cowl on 2005

Post by Dingy101 »

I need some assistance identifying the part in attached pictures. I found it lying under cowl area when I removed the cowl.
Bike is somewhat new to me. I do not see it in parts manual.
2005 level 1 GL1800
Thank You,

It is a part off of the Steering Stem. It, I believe, is part of the turn signal canceller. Item Number 3 on the picture below.

I see where it is supposed to be attached on Bike. I did not take that loose when I removed cowl. Possibly a lucky coincident that it was still there.
Picture is looking upwards at bottom of stem. rear of bike is to the right. Mounts to hole on right and black flat part of sensor support goes over plastic rectangular protrusion on left side in center of steering stem.
Turn signals did cancel as expected with part I found loose, I have no idea how as this appears to be what locks the sensor in line.
You possibly saved me from having to pull cowl of again.
Thank You Sir !!

Back in place where it belongs.
That would have been a frustrating ordeal if I had not found that part. I was only working on head light units and did not do anything in that area.
Thank You again MikeB !!!!

The harness with the arrow might be your culprit as to why you turn signal switch arm came loose. Never should any wires or harness be rubbing or touching in the fork area as the forks are fully moved from side to side or moving up and down. That harness needs completely re-routed by following the path of the flexible brake hoses. Also, the connector in the circle is probably for the headlamp motor on the right side. It is also best to get the correct mounting screw.

Actually, I don't think that gray connector goes to your headlamp motor and am trying to place it. Does your Wing have ABS ???
