Hello every one , I enjoyed my GL 1800 year 2002 for many years with no problems .
I stored the bike in a covered garage for 8 months due to medical reasons , started for engine runs very often.
Today I finally took it for a short ride , when I came back home and park it , eard a short rattling boiling noise from under the seat, I do not know if it was the fuel pump or the radiator fan, turn on the strart key on again and the noise was there for a short time.
This was done again with cold engine and no noise exist.
Check radiator fluid quantity was ok.
Any advise on what the problem can be ?
Greetings from Bolivia.
Ramiro

Re: Noise at start key on
On hot days, and when restarting a 5th gen Wing while the engine is still hot, it is common to hear a gurgling sound when the key is turned on. This is caused from fuel that starts to boil that sits in a fuel line that lays on top of the engine. When you turn the key on, the fuel pump turns on for about 2-3 seconds to prime and purge the fuel line. You are hearing the bubbles in the fuel line being purge from the system. If the fuel in the fuel line is below boiling point, if you listen closely, you will still hear the fuel pump cycle, but it is then pumping a liquid fuel minus the bubbles.

Thank you for your reply GoldWingrGreg,
From your explanation I take it that this "noise" is normal and no further action is required.
