MIL 25 code

Post by rlwfarrier »

I have a 2001 GL1800 that is showing an MIL 25 code (right knock sensor). This problem happened to me six years and 12,000 miles ago and long story but I solved it then by replacing the ECM with a NOS unit. (I also had replace the right knock sensor when the problem happened six years ago and that did not help). It has now reoccurred again (bike looses power and will quit running. Assuming that the ECM I installed six years ago had gone bad I replaced it with a used unit (which was supposed to have come off of a donor bike that was running fine - I bought it off of ebay) - part number for this ECM is for a 2002 model . The bike cranks and seems to run fine but the MIL 25 code still appears within a mile of beginning to ride the bike. Seems strange to me that another ECM would immediately throw the same code. Any thoughts as I have no intention of riding the bike off very far from the house until I resolve this issue.

Thanks

I have never, ever, read of anyone finding a bad knock sensor.

just pony up, and join the crowd along with me.

I found a used 2004 ECM and put it into my 2002 and cured the MIL 25 code on my gl1800.
