BEST FRONT TIRE FOR GL1800 TRIKE

BEST FRONT TIRE FOR GL1800 TRIKE
Any one give me some info on the best front tire for a gl1800 trike? Currently has an Avon Cobra on it. I was looking for a good straight tread or perhaps a car tire instead. Any ideas are appreciated.

I'm in the same boat so I'll be interested it others experience. I currently have a Dunlap installed but it will need replacing soon.

Avon make a front tire specifically for a GL1800 trike. It has "TRIKE" written in big letters in the side wall. I recommend using it.

In the 12 years Ive owned my trike and with the miles Ive ridden I found the Avon TRIKE tire to be the best for handling and ride. I tried the BT 45 and the Michelin and yes theyre cheaper and you get more miles but to me the ride is harsher or due to the tread design one of them has a buzz. Ive got a little over 15,000 on my Avon and Ill probably get over 18,000 before I replace it. Probably the best tire out there for a trike right now. The only way you could put a car tire on the trike is to get the Eurotrike front end as the size of the front wheel and clearance will not let you do it.

I have a GL1200A trike and have been looking into the same issue with the front tire. I just happened across the Pirelli MT 60 RS tire, it's dual sport so it's tread is very carlike unlike your typical motorcycle tire especially in the center. I'll let you know how it works.

Since writing the above, I've since discovered Avon makes their trike tire in a 'V' and 'H' rated. Sounds good, I looked at that tire but the Pirelli is also H rated so I think I will go with it.

Its not so much about the H rating. Avon designed the tire especially for trikes. The BT45 and Michelin are sport bike tires as probably the Pirelli is also. Trikes dynamics of handling with a front tire is what Avon totally designed their tire around. All I know is that after having the Avon trike tire on the front of my trike it rides and outhandles the other tires its had before .
