Dust Covers and LED Headlights
Hi all i have recently fitted pair of LED headlamps to my 14 Wing. The heatsink and the fan on the back of the globe leave no scope for putting the dust cover back on. So i will now show my naïvety and ask is it necessary for the dust cover to be there, or can i run safely without it?

Re: Dust Covers and LED Headlights
What brand of headlights did you use, and did you follow the instructions closely?
I would imagine without the dust cover in place you're going to get a lot more dust and moisture inside the assemblies. It will degrade light performance and may degrade the reflectors themselves, which are $$$ IIRC. And a pain to get to if you need to replace them.

I agree that the dust cover needs to be on there for the very reason that tamathumper said. Last week I was on about 2 miles of gravel road and the dust was just rolling off the bike.

As of right now I have removed the LEDs' and put the normal lamps back in so that the dust covers can be in place, just didn't feel right. What is a good brand of LED headlamp for the 14 Wing?

I bought these from cyclemax last year and really like them.

Yes, Electrical Connection headlamps are great.

The instructions that came with my SoCal LED's said to trim the dust cover to fit.
