F1 light
F1 light
After riding for about 10 miles the F1 light comes on. I pull over to get the code but when I go in neutral and put down the kickstand the bike goes dead and will not start. But after I turn off the key and back on the bike starts with no issues or F1 light. Is there another way of retrieving the code? Any help is appreciated.

Re: F1 light
Does the sidestand light come on? May be a bad sidestand switch. Clutch lever out?
Re: F1 light
Side stand light does come on. And it's a new clutch lever.

Re: F1 light
Stock or aftermarket lever? Some of the aftermarkets push on the switches even when all the way out.
Re: F1 light
Stock. It was done at the dealership.

Re: F1 light
This is an outstanding reason to expect that it is, in fact, the lever.

Re: F1 light
Or did they disturb or break one of the switches? I am not sure if the switches can cause this problem.tamathumper wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 6:06 pmThis is an outstanding reason to expect that it is, in fact, the lever.![]()

Re: F1 light
I don’t think the lever switch can cause this symptom. Why was the lever replaced? Any other work done to it recently?
Re: F1 light
The clutch assembly was rebuilt and that was almost a year ago. This problem started a week ago. Until then nothing.

Re: F1 light
Ok, the next time the FI light comes on, don’t stop to get the code, just keep riding toward home and see if it starts running badly or any other symptoms show up. A bad connection at your reverse regulator assembly can cause the shutdown, but it won’t cause the FI light to start with.

Re: F1 light
Does the neutral light come on? It should start in neutral even if the side stand is up or down. Sounds like the bike doesn't know it's in neutral.

Re: F1 light
I agree mrbill21, the strange thing is why it will restart in neutral. I know what can cause it to not know it’s in neutral, but cycling the key won’t fix that, so this one is weird.
