I have a 2005 GL1800 with the OEM CB installed. I can receive but no transmit. The Mics and the speakers in the helmets work fine on intercom, radio etc. When I push the Talk switch down, the TX shows on the screen. The CB user manual says something about this TX indication shoul be flashing if indeed you are transmitting. The TX does not flash when I try to transmit. I have dis-connected the power to the CB to re-set it, still same problem. Any ideas??
Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: cb radio no transmit
Can you confirm that it is in fact not transmitting? i.e. do you have someone with a CB who can listen to see if you are transmitting? Or even better, do you have a SWR meter that can measure your transmitter output?

Re: cb radio no transmit
This works as a quick transmitter test.Using a 12 volt lamp type test probe, unhook the antenna from the radio, ground the probe to the radio chassis and probe the center hole of the radio connector.when transmitting, the light will light up,and increase in brightness with modulation. This will verify if CB has tx power and mod.

Re: cb radio no transmit
Thanks for the help.. I hooked up the test light circuit like you instructed me to do. When I key the mike, the lamp will glow, but when I speak, the lamp will not change in brightness. I tried both the front and the back inputs, same thing. I think the mics are good as they work on the intercom function. What might this mean?

Re: cb radio no transmit
It sounds like the tx is ok but has no modulation.Verify that with another radio. It if it is a mod problem and not a tx problem, look for the obvious loose plugs, connectors.I would guess that the mod circuit is routed thru the mixer box to the cb.The light will change brightness only a small ammount with loud mod.

Re: cb radio no transmit
my 05 did the same thing, I could hear others but they could not hear me, My TX showed up that was it. I took handlebar housing apart to access the cb controls and took out the actual cb push-to-talk switch. sprayed elec cleaner in it and blew out with air compressor and hit with small amount of WD-40. worked great after that.
