new cb

Post by notsobright »

Hello all;
I just purchased a 2010 wing with only 12500 miles on it. Get bike
I need to buy and install cb radio. The kits are still available from honda. is it a easy install or are there things I have to do besides plug in. I have to install antenna also.
What kind of job is it and do the instructions cover everything I need to know and do.
Thanks for any answers you may provide.

IIRC, the directions were fairly straight forward. We purchased three of these from one dealer, took a 2007, 2008 and 2009 into the garage and did all three at once. There is a small amount of disassembly to the right top shelter panel and a bit of a dig to get to the plug you need, but it's not bad. Just take your time. Installing the antenna is not difficult, but it is finicky because you want to line it up so it is angled the same as your radio antenna. All in all, it could take a couple of easy hours.
It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey

You have to drill a hole in the back side of the trunk to run the wires thru. Connections are easy and it is plug and play.
Here is the connection on an 06 wing

Drilling in the trunk for the Antenna should be easy because if you look there are circle marks exactly where you have to drill. Compare where they are by looking at the radio antenna on the opposite side.

It ain't the destination but the getting there. You are not lost until you run out of gas.
