12v plug and Fog Lights

Post by Bstate86 »

Hey guys newb here. Just purchased a beautiful 2004 GL1800 with 61000 miles on it. Rides like a dream but I noticed two things so far. My 12v plug in my left hand cubby doesn’t work and my fog lights don’t come on when I press the button. Could these be related? Everything else electronically seems to work fine. Radio plays, turn signals, high and low beams and brake lights.

Not related. You can pull the left hand pocket out by popping the 4 rivets loose and taking the trim cover off. The 12 volt outlet is more than likely unplugged from its 12 volt source someplace under the pocket.
The switch to the fog lights could be dirty and may need cleaned with some electrical contact cleaner. You can take that apart when you have the left hand pocket out
It's not what you buy, it's what you build.
