Runs rough after refueling
I have a 2002 GL1800 with 79k. Right after I fuel up it runs like it is missing out for about 10 miles. There is significant pressure when you remove the fuel tank. I have tried running with the fuel cap off. It cured it a little bit. I have ran Sea foam threw the tank, I ran fuel injector cleaner threw several tanks. I have ran it completely out of fuel. I have tried different octanes. I’m running out of ideas. It has had this condition for 2 years. I have owned this motorcycle since 2004 with 5k.

Have you tried soaking the fuel cap in Seafoam or a carb cleaner like Gumout?

Re: Runs rough after refueling
I'm sure it would not make a difference but have you changed spark plugs? When have you replaced the air filter?

Re: Runs rough after refueling
Air filter was just changed. I’m not gonna change the spark plug because it runs perfectly after about 10 minutes.

Re: Runs rough after refueling
Does it run rough at idle? Have you had it run in idle for 10 minutes and then ride it ? The plugs will show if its running rich.

Re: Runs rough after refueling
Is the vent hose routed properly and not kinked or pinched?
That's what caused my "whoosh" problem when taking off the gas cap.

Re: Runs rough after refueling
I wonder if possibly you have a plug wire or wires going bad from age. The other thing thats coming to light is the ECM on 2001 to 2005s are starting to go bad from age after reading the forums. I wonder if this is a symptom of whats coming.
