F1light
My f1light came on today and flashed me the code but continually flashes even after shutting the bike off for an hour..all the info I come up with says code goes away after bike is shut off. How do I get the light to stay off? Code is 23,right o2 sensor.

First, get the Terminology right. It is not 'F' digit '1'
it is 'F'ault 'I'ndicator lamp, or FI
The flashing light should ONLY commence when the Sidestand is Down, and the transmission is in Neutral, and the Throttle is left alone leaving the engine to Idle.
I have never heard of the light to continue flashing with the Key OFF.
it if does, you have a wiring harness, or Key Switch problem.
The bad news, not one Oxygen Sensor has ever been found to be bad.
It is always the ECM / ECU depending on what you want to call it.
Any year ECM from 2001 to 2005 will work, I found one from a 2004 that met a brick wall and was being parted out. My bike is an '02. works fine.

My mistake on the incorrect language.. the light does not flash with the key off but even after letting the bike sit all I have to do is turn the key on and I get the flashing light.. from what I understand from the info I have read is that once the key has been turned off the light should not flash until the problem reoccurs as there is no memory

you are correct, unless the tranny is in Neutral, and the Sidestand is Down.vothger wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 11:51 pm My mistake on the incorrect language.. the light does not flash with the key off but even after letting the bike sit all I have to do is turn the key on and I get the flashing light.. from what I understand from the info I have read is that once the key has been turned off the light should not flash until the problem reoccurs as there is no memory
If that is the situation, then the FI light will flash showing the Error Code.
The error code stays in the ECM all the time, even after shutdown.
my '02 had a left O2 sensor code, testing revealed the O2 sensors are both good.
on my '02 the FI light would flash, or come on solid?? can't remember which, while riding the bike.
the actual code was not available until stopped, sidestand down, in neutral, idling.
The only downside to that, is the ECM goes into Limp Mode and the MPG suffers badly.
found a used ECM from an '04 and it works just fine.
I use this link to search both eBay and Amazon at the same time.
for this, I would use only "gl1800 ECM" and search thru the results for a good used ECM.

Re: F1light
Finally had time to work on it. Followed all the tests in the service manual. Replaced right side o2 sensor and all is well.

Well, I guess we can no longer say an O2 sensor has never failed.

Re: F1light
I think you got your knock sensor and oxygen sensor codes crossed up. The knock sensor codes usually point to the ECM. The oxygen sensor codes are usually pointing to a bad sensor or bad gas. Glad he got her going again.
