Speedometer stops showing up speed
Speedometer stops showing up speed
Hi wingers! I’ve got GL1800 2001. During today’s ride I’ve noticed speedometer stops shows speed. I’ve pulled over for a minute, turned off engine. After speeding come back to normal suddenly when I rich roughly 40km/h. It happens couple of times and after that stops showing speed definitely and FI light comes up without any flashing. Any help, suggestions please? Thank you.

Re: Speedometer stops showing up speed
2 things to check, and 1 thing to be aware of. First, is there any indications if needle drag on the speedo panel under the needle ??? Look for drag marks, scratching, or warping of the speedo head itself. If there is I believe there was a recall or campaign long ago from Honda that addressed that issue. You can find them all at www.justwings.com > printed material > recalls and bulletins. My web page is currently under major construction, and hopefully that info is currently available.
Next is your FI light. Has it ever flashed ??? The other thing that can happen is the FI light will come on from the speedo sensor failing. One would now if that is the cause if the cruise control quits too. A bad sensor will no longer supply speed info to the ECM, and not only will the needle become erratic, but the c/c will quit too.
Lastly, the FYI ... under certain conditions, various aftermarket windshields will cause a GL1800s dash to warp. To avoid that, be sure to only use OEM windshields.

Sounds like a bad speed sensor or a bad connection at its harness connector.Elza2001 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 8:08 am Hi wingers! I’ve got GL1800 2001.
