This has probably been dealt with before but I'm going to ask about it again,
I've got a 2014 , with 25,000 miles, that has a strong gas smell after a hot ride.
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas...
Couldn't be the charcoal canister could it?

Re: smelly 2014
First / easiest things to check are the vent hose coming from the top of the tank at the very front, and the seals in and around the round door and fittings (under the seat)

The canister is a possibility especially if you have been over filling the gas past the bottom of the neck.

Have drained the overflow tube at the front of the left cylinder head each oil change as per the service manual?

Is this a new bike to you? Or are you just working on customer's bikes?Nightwing93 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2020 9:52 pm This has probably been dealt with before but I'm going to ask about it again,

I've had this '14 for a year and a half now, only has 25,000 on it now...
I've been trying to be dilligent about keeping the fuel level below the neck.
But some could have gotten down to the canister....

First check the fuel tank hose that goes from the RF corner of the fuel tank to the canister. It consists of 2 hoses, and cracking and it needs replaced. Then check the large hose that goes from the canister to the purge control valve. There is also a test that can be done to test the purge control valve. If all that is good, let me ask this ... are you laying the bike over to replace the rear tire ???
