To Pau7220, just noticed the topic you referenced was for the Metzeler ME880 series tires and what I bought were the CruiseTec series. Hope that makes a difference.

I did see that. I hope it makes a difference also. Definitely looks like a better design. I haven't seen the cruise tec on a Goldwing. What I have seen is the cracking on the edge of the intersecting tread diamonds. When they start chopping, the high part of the chop becomes a pressure point which creates heat, causing a crack. Then you can actually force the edge up to the point of seeing cords. When I see this so often on a tire that should have a lot more useable life, it turns me off from the brand. Keep us in the loop on them. Good luck!

Just another data point. I'm currently on my 4th set of E4s. I got ~13K on all three previous sets and I'm at a tad under 11K on the current set. I fully expect to get at least 13K out of them. I run tire pressure at 42PSI front, 44PSI rear. Some solo riding for commuting, but always ride 2-up for the long trips keeping within 5mph of the speed limit. Some freeway riding to get to the start of the trip, but mostly ride on back country roads. I do like the twisties, but even though my chicken-strips are narrow I wouldn't claim to be all that aggressive a rider.

I agree that the OP may have just picked up a factory freak. It would probably be worth it to contact a Dunlop rep and give the an opportunity to make it right.

This is my first set of E4S on my new to me 06 1800. Currently at 13k on them, the are definitely wearing out, safely I'm guessing another 2k left on them. But like I said, this is my first set, I have no trips planned as of now, we have a cabin, so usually just shorter trips for us. I'll keep an eye on these tires, but I like the tires so far!

I installed a set of Elite4 on my 2016 GW at the beginning of 2019 season and rode 24k Km and both tire still looking good , most of the time I ride back roads where the pavement its not as good as main roads. Maybe I can get another 10k out of it but I’m looking to replace then not because are worn but because I don’t feel safe when I lean in the curves. I never felt comfortable with elite 4 it feels like they don’t stick to the road like the Elite3 or the metzzler888 or Bridgestone Exedra G709 Tire.
The Elite 4 might last longer but in my opinion are not safe maybe its me but I would never put Elite 4 on my bike again.
I might go back to Bridgstone I only get 15K Km out of them but at least I’m not afraid to lean in the curves.

Question: any one else feels the Elite 4 are slippery in the curves or it’s just me?

We haven't heard back from the original poster of this thread. My guess is he decided to double check his math and found he didn't carry the 1. :?

Can't say if it's just you, but I lean hard on my Elite 4's to the point of scraping foot pegs once in a while, with no issues.

Do you have bias e4s or racial e4? I ride a 1500 usually 2 up at 40 psi on fear fire with bias e4s. I usually get 15,000 miles plus on mine. My brother tires the 1800 on facials usually 2up and 40 psi and he only gets maybe 10,000 miles max.

Previous post was supposed to say radial, not racial or facials. Sorry about the auto fill program.

I'll lob another point to consider...

How is the suspension on the OP's bike?

Has it ever been serviced (not only front forks...) and what is the rear preload set to? Has it been 25 for the last several thousand miles because the spring and/or shock is sagged out?

Just recall some elementary vehicle dynamics. If those suspension parts are worn out, the next item to get worn out? Might be the tire, depending on a host of other influences.

OEM suspension barely holds the bike up with no weight on it.

Put one or two 'Goldwing-sized' humans on-board, and all bets are off.
