I recently ordered an Electrical Connection brand Digital Voltmeter, p/n 04121, from Cyclemax. One of their key selling points is that their unit has a separate lead that runs directly to the battery to eliminate as many connectors and other possible sources of resistance. When I opened the package, there was no extra lead. It has a three pin jumper to plug in below the glovebox between the harness and the accessory cigarette lighter plug, just like as pictured and in the instructions, but that leads directly to a two pin mini-plug and then to the voltmeter module. The instructions make no mention of this and still talk about running the extra cable to the battery.
I sent an e-mail off to EC to see about the change. Knowing they are typically busy and slow to respond to e-mails, I also sent a note to Gary at Cyclemax. Gary was great. Within an hour he had pulled another from inventory and verified that it was identical to the one I had. Today, after a week, I was finally able to talk to EC. They said it was a design change and that the extra lead was overkill. At some point they will revise the item description and the instructions.
So if you order one, don't be surprised. No review yet as I now get to go back to work.

I have the same one you have and it works great. No problems in the last 40K miles. It has the smaller two pin connector so you do not have to remove the meter from the speaker housing when you need to pull off that part of the body work.

Is yours a mini two wire plug or the original style with the battery lead? I'm just curious when the design change took place.

Mine is about 7 years old or so. I think I put it on in 2013 when I got the bike. I do not remember much about it. I just put it on and forgot about it. It was plug and play, no extra wire. I just see it every time I ride and it is working fine.
