Stalls/oil light
Hoping someone can enlighten me. Last fall I changed the oil change and winterized my 02 and parked it. Did my T-cloc check and everything was good. Started it up with it on the side stand with no problems and let it warm up for about 10 minutes. Threw my leg over it, straightened it up to take the side kickstand up and bike stalled with oil light coming on. Bike then restarted on upright and ran fine after that. The catch, it keeps on doing the same at the start of every ride I have taken after that when parked for the night. Anyone have any thoughts or has had this problem.

My son is going to enjoy it for many years to come.
Re: Stalls/oil light
well,
I always leave my 1800 on the center stand, and I start it up and then go put the ATGATT on.
by the time I am ready to go, it is warmed up good, and I back out of the garage.
never, once, had it die unless I turned the key off...
YMMV,
but it won't hurt to try my way.

I'm thinking bank angle sensor. It could be the sidestand switch starting to go, but from what you describe, my guess is the bank angle sensor is starting to fail.Mortie wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 12:43 am Hoping someone can enlighten me. Re: Stalls/oil light
I’m unfamiliar with the bank angle sensor, is it something a person could easily change out or would it mean ripping the whole engine apart. Also I take it that sensor is not part of the fault codes as I’m not getting any fault notifications when it stalls, just the oil light. Is there anyway way to positively diagnose that sensor is starting to fail. Don’t think it can be the side stand switch as the stand hasn’t even been touch yet when it stalls.

The following two pictures taken from pg 18-13 of the Honda service manual will show where the Bank Angle sensor is and how to test it.

Re: Stalls/oil light
It's basically a little switch that trips if the bike falls over, and shuts off the engine so it doesn't get damaged by running when the bike is on its side.

Re: Stalls/oil light
Thanks MikeB and WingAdmin for the info. In a couple weeks I'll be wrenching it from front to back with a tune up. Since the air filter is going to be changed I guess that will be the opportune time to keep on tearing it apart and look into it.
