A post with instructions.

I did this for my older Garmins without lifetime maps (LTM) (maps were 8-10 years old) and works pretty well.
Maps are not quite a polished as the Garmin ones, but better than 10 year old maps that don't show a major roadway that I use all the time by my house.

I really wish Garmin would just release LTM for all devices, even if not purchased with LTM.
Probably not a whole lot of them left out there, and would not really cost them anything.

You can purchase life time maps from Garmin, I think it is about $89.00, you can buy anew Garmin with LTM for less money. I bought a new Garmin 50 LTM new in the box for $22.00 from mercari dot com
