NAVI Screen

Post by danbgt »

This is probably a repeat but I can’t find an answer.
A few years ago I replaced the navigation screen on my 2006 GL. It had blotches of dead pixels. I bought a screen from a supplier online. I recently got a “new” 2015 GL. It only had 6,900 miles on it! Now at about 12,000 miles the Navi screen is already dying. This time with just thin horizontal lines. My questions are:

Do the thin lines mean the same thing as the blotches of dead pixels? Or is something else going on?

Does the 2015 use the same screen as the 2006?

Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks!!

It..depends. Are the lines static, or do they move? Can you post a picture of it?

They appear to be static. However they seem to be in a different place that when I last rode the bike 4 days ago.

From the looks of it...it would appear that there may be a loose connection somewhere. When I had an issue with my screen, I was able to see the full screen display, with just a few bad pixels...I see nothing but lines, no color on your screen.

The ones I've seen are always batches of bad pixels like you describe with your other Wing. The lines in your picture might be from an aftermarket replacement screen. Other who had replaced their NAVI screen, with aftermarket ones are beginning to have various complaints with them.

I shot the picture before the screen came completely on to show the lines better. When it is completely booted up it works perfectly except for the lines. It is the original equipment screen that the bike had when new.
I guess before I jump off the deep end and replace it I’ll check all the connections.
