Tachometer and cruise control

Post by Revran »

On my 2005 GL 1800 the cruise control and tachometer both stopped working at the same time. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

The cruise control monitors the engine speed via the same pulse line that drives the tachometer. So if that pulse line is malfunctioning, both your tachometer and cruise control will stop working.

Is there a way to test that without taking the whole bike apart?

I would check the connectors on the FI ECM. The tach signal comes from it and runs to the cruise control module and the gauges for the tachometer to use. You just have to pull the seat and shelter off to reach the ECM.
