Key fob

Post by toanogreen »

My key fob had issues working and I thought it was the battery. Changed it and now nothing works. Do you have to reprogram it when you put in a new battery, or is it just shot?

You should not have to do anything to it if it was just a battery replacement. It should work normally.

I replaced the batteries in something the other day and it didn't work afterwards. I was stumped so I removed the battery. Then I noticed that I had neglected to remove the little protective sticker that was on the negative side of the 2032 button cell battery. Removed the sticker, installed the battery and it was all okay.

Sometimes there gets a buildup of crud or oxidation under the buttons and you should take it apart and clean the contacts with alcohol. Dirty contacts may prevent it from operation or be intermittent.

I think that was the case. I took it apart again and blew it out. It works fine now. Thanks
