I just purchased a 2007 Trike with only 1200 miles on it, and it looks like show room condition. While riding home it periodically felt like I was losing power, being held back. It did it a handful of times in the 60 miles I had to ride it. I was thinking an issue in the fuel system maybe. Took my wife for a short ride and it was doing it again and then we started to smell something burning and then no rear brakes. The brake pedal went all the way down, though I still had front brakes. Got it home and looked around and both wheels were hot enough to burn your hand. I guess for some reason the brakes were grabbing and locking up. I called the seller and he informed me that there was a recall for contanimated brake fluid, however it was taken care of. I wouldn't have expected on a bike with so few miles. Anything else other than flushing the line and replacing the brake fluid and bleeding I should be concerned with?
Thanks
Joe

Re: 2007 No Rear Brakes
With what little information you have provided, 2007 Gold Wing with 1200 miles on it, you should be very concerned about everything that has or had fluid of any kind in it. A 14 year old Gold Wing with 1200 miles on it is a candidate for lots and lots of maintenance.
Every cavity on that bike needs to be checked for animal or insect infestation.
Every drop of fluid in it needs to be replaced. Every liquid line or reservoir needs to be checked for rust, sludge, and every orifice needs to checked for clogging.
You also will need to replace the tires. They are probably also fourteen years old and are not safe to ride on.
I'd say you have a lot of work ahead of you.

Re: 2007 No Rear Brakes
My guess is the return hole in one of the rear master cylinders is plugged. Seems like every trike does something different with the linked brakes, so you will have to tailor your service to suit your ride.
MikeB is right on the money. That thing has sat unused so long, everything is suspect. In addition to changing all the fluids, I would want to go through all the hydraulics. Rebuild master cylinders, calipers, slave cylinders, and any valves for brake and clutch. Depending oh how they got, check rotors for warping.

Re: 2007 No Rear Brakes
I would change and flush the fluids and then I would check out with honda if the brake recall was done. My 07 when it was new was doing similar things and I went through 3 dealers before I found one who would believe me and finally fixed the issue long before hondas fix. Supposedly theres somewhere on the web you can put your vin into Honda to find out if the recall was done Maybe someone else will chime in here. But I would start off changing and flushing all fluids especially brakes.

Re: 2007 No Rear Brakes
The time I had a dragging rear brake I pulled the caliper and found the area around the pistons packed with old
brake dust and grime. The slider pins were also dry and crusty..Cleaned every thing and with a fresh thin coat
of grease on the caliper pins.....No more dragging brakes.
But what was said up above..You need to do a complete bike inspection along with brake/clutch/cooling system flush.

Re: 2007 No Rear Brakes
Surprisingly the issue has gone away. I've been riding it the past few days and it hasn't happened again. I am still having my mechanic come and go over it and check all systems to be sure everything is fine. This trike is pristine in like show room condition. The tires look new no sign of dry rot, the oil and anti-freeze look good as well. I can honestly say that going from a GL1500 to a GL1800 is like night and day. The GL1800 is such a pleasureable ride, even my wife noticed the huge difference in comfort. I'm sure glad I made the change
