Hi folks, need some help asap,
I have 07 GL1800 and just replaced the old HID headlights including Pathblazer(Kisan) modulators with new H7 Pathfinder LED's, Low and High beams.I tested them upon install and they worked fine so I completed reassembly. Now I turn ignition on and low beams work then hit high beams and they come on for split second and they all go out. I checked fuse box and nothing blown. Wait a few minutes and low beams work again. I replaced battery (8yrs old) and still high beams go out. Please if anyone has any ideas as to what I did wrong, supposed to be easy plug and play, but nooooo. Thanks in advance !

Re: Pathfinder LED headlight problems
Thx MikeB,for inquiring. I’m not completely sure yet, but I think it was just one of the connections. I went above and beyond trying to make sure all contacts were good and I taped each one and zip tied them all secure (was a lot easier than the HID set up) so that was the last thing I thought would be wrong. Anyway I come out this morning to try and figure it out hoping I didn’t have to tear it all apart again, turned the key and low beams went on. Crossed my fingers and hit the hi beams and they worked, modulating even in all of its LED glory. I only pushed on one of the connectors before I turned on the key, so maybe I got lucky. I will ride for a while and see what happens. At least I can take it this weekend to Pismo Beach and a friends wedding.
I’m a bit embarrassed to have put out the SOS. I called everybody I could think of. Dennis Kirk,Kisan, and GoldwingDoc’s. Happy to say, all of them responded to help. So hopefully I’ll have many years of bright roadways to travel and thanks again for offering to help MikeB.

Re: Pathfinder LED headlight problems
Thanks so much for the reply. I was curious. You see, I too had HID's on my GL1500 and my GL1800, then I went to Pathfinders. Initially the HID's were great and at the time I thought they were the ultimate answer as the LED's available were on the anemic side. Once proper LED's became available I switched them out.
At first I hesitated in replying to your post because all I could think of was there was a faulty connection somewhere in your installation and I didn't want to point any fingers. It's a pretty big job to take off the shelter and start probing around but that is what I saw in your future. I didn't want to throw water on your fire, just yet. But, the connections are still suspect and you may still have to remove the shelter and take a closer look at the connections once again. Covering the connectors with tape is probably okay but it will only be a problem down the road, especially if you ever have to take them apart for any inspections. If there is any oxidation on those connectors heat will be generated. When they are covered with tape, the heat is held in. Heat will deform the connectors and cause more connection problems.
Clean, tight connections are just about always the best answer whether high current or low current.

Mike is right on target. You really want to fix that.
Well unless you like the feeling of going around a blind corner at 60 mph plus on a twisty mountain road and losing all your headlights. I'll admit it is quite the adrenalin rush.

Anytime there’s an issue with the headlights, make sure the starter button switch is clean and fully returning to the out position when released.Meanderman wrote: ↑Thu Oct 28, 2021 2:39 pm Thx MikeB,for inquiring.
