I just replaced the battery in my 2013 F6B. The starter spins but the engine won’t crank.
A little history. I was playing the radio while working in the garage on other things. I thought I had ignition set to acc but was wrong. When the battery wore down I heard a loud pop. I hooked up a battery tender to the dead battery and it charged. I turned on the ignition and nothing came on on the display. I replaced the battery with a new one. All was good except I lost the radio. I opened the fuse box and removed and checked the fuses. All fuses were good. The radio now works but when I try to start the engine the starter spins the engine won’t fire like there is no spark. Only 32000 miles on the bike. Where do I go from here? Thanks

I am new to this type of communication so I am unsure where or what to post where. I don’t mean to offend anyone I just need guidance

Not sure your level of experience, but from the way you describe the problem, I think you need a trip to the dealer or an independent bike shop, if all the fuses test good. (test with a meter not just visual inspection)

Thanks. Just wanted to know if it could be something simple

It could be as simple as a fuse. Low battery voltage can cause higher current draw for some things, but it will only be a little higher so the fuse may not have an obvious failure like a short circuit would do. That's why I said to check with a meter to make sure you are not missing a small break. Be sure there is power on both sides. Do you have the service manual or wiring diagrams?

When you first turn on the key, do you hear the fuel pump run for a couple of seconds and while it runs, do you see the FI/engine light come on the dash and go out? If the answer is yes to both, then put the side stand down, leave it in neutral, then crank it for more than 10 seconds continuously and see if it will flash the FI/engine light. If it does, stop cranking and count the short and long flashes. Long flash = 10 and short flash = 1. Add them up and we can see what it “thinks” is wrong.docmlmock@aol.com wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 9:25 pm Thanks. Just wanted to know if it could be something simple

Possibly the title should be "Engine cracks, but the engine will not start." The reason is this. Some owners with 5th gens have the problem as your title describes. The starter spins and that's all that's all that is heard ... starter spinning but the engine does not crank over.

Good point! This could be an oil issue, starter, or battery charge state issue. More details are needed.GoldWingrGreg wrote: ↑Sun Dec 26, 2021 12:20 pm Possibly the title should be "Engine cracks, but the engine will not start." The reason is this.
