Hey folks I have a question.
My TPMS light will not go out, it is NOT the low air pressure light.
I have a 2010 Goldwing with around 50,000 miles on it.
I don't have a great Goldwing dealer near me and I don't want to make multiple trips to the dealership and back while they try and figure it out. The shop rate is over $100 per hour. They told me it may be as easy as the sensors on the wheels but they are very expensive, in the area of $250 per sensor. Either way, I would have to pay a substantial amount of money for the repairs.
Has anyone used aftermarket tire pressure monitors?
And if so do you have any recommendations?
I am in Canada so may not have the same access to some parts and the USA does.
Cheers.....

Re: TPMS light
Most likely the TPMS sensor batteries are dead. Dealers will replace the entire unit. You can open them up and replace just the batteries for much less money. There would be some soldering involved. There are threads on now to do this.
Alternatively, you can go with an aftermarket monitoring system. I use Garmin but I hear FOBO is well liked.

Re: TPMS light
Being a 2010 a good assumption is a dead battery. batteries are quite cheap. I think I am going to order some just to have in stock.
If you need help I have the ATEQ TPMS tool for goldwing, a motorcycle lift, and a tire changer.

Yep, agree with the others that your sensor batteries are dead. I use an aftermarket system because I have a car tire on the rear. This is the one I am using because I also pull a trailer. They also have one that does not have the extra sensors for the trailer. Not a fan of the FOBO system because that goes through your phone. My phone is in my jacket pocket when I ride. Hard to see what the pressures are when it is not on the bars. I have the tire guard fob attached to the dash right below the ignition key. The two tire screen is mounted on the bars.

If you do go with an aftermarket system, you will need to disable the factory system, or it will still flash. There is a how to article on what wires need to be cut and soldered together to turn off the TPMS computer.

Re: TPMS light
Fred Harmon (the one who makes the GL1800 maintenance videos) will replace the batteries and recalibrate the TPMS sensors. You have to remove them, and send them to him, he'll do the work and send them back to you in a few days. I don't remember how I got in touch with him, but try Googling Fred Harmon Goldwing, or search around on the GL1800 Riders website (www.gl1800riders.com), someone there may be able to help. If you're a member of GL1800 Riders site, put up a post and Fred may reply to you himself. He did the ones on my 2010, and I haven't had any issues. According to my records, he charged me $65 to do both.

I have a 2010 and my Batties were going dead. I took the wheels and tires down to a repair shop and had them take tires off and and the sensor off. I took my sensors to batties plus and they charge me $15.00 for each one and that has be 3 years ago. http://www.pbase.com/fredharmon/09tire sensors
Check this out is I find out to have them change.
It is cheaper then buying new sensors. And then I put new tires on.
