Gas tank gurgling

Post by Asphaltmaniac »

It was moderately warm 75F here today and once home from a very short errand 25 miles. I shut off the bike and hear gurgling from the gas tank. It seemed towards the front where the return line enters it. But,thinking for some reason there is excess pressure in the tank. I slowly remove the cap expecting to hear some sort of wooosh. But no, nothing, put the cap back on. Stood there for another 30 seconds or so and it lightly continued. As I had to get into the house, I said fine be that way. Couldn't say how long it lasted. I ride, roads dry, all winter long here. The longest it ever sits is 2 weeks, ok maybe 3  . Is never put into any kind of storage. It has run flawlessly all winter and while out today. No issues until today.
Tank was 3/4 full.
Cant think of anything else to say. Hopefully some one else has experienced this?
Thanks for reading.

I've had it happen on warm days when the bike is good and hot. Gasoline boils at around 95°F, so it's pretty easy to get a heat-soaked bike with a gas tank that contains boiling gasoline.

1st time I've heard it. And have been through much hotter conditions with it since bought new in 06. Who knows, maybe I only thought gurgling was coming from the tank?

Gasoline is such a mixture of junk that it has multiple boiling points. I'm pretty sure the lowest is still over 100 degrees, but that's going from memory, and it's been a while.
