2015 1800 Radiator Fans
Do the radiator fans turn on while riding down the highway or just when idling/stop and go driving? I figure while riding down the highway that the engine is air cooled.

The engine fans are designed to take air in from the sides and push it out the front.
This would be counter productive when moving forward at any appreciable speed so they are programmed to shut off if vehicle speed is above about 20Km/h.
In stop and go traffic this system is awesome because instead of blowing hot air on you it blows hot air on the Harley idling in front of you!
Where you do have to watch your temp is going uphill in slow traffic for example:
We left Wilson Wy on highway 22. The summit is 11 Km later and an altitude gain of 210 meters. We were following trucks and RVs that were traveling at 40Km/h in the 30C summer heat. We had to stop multiple times just to let it idle so the fans would come on and cool the engine back down.
