USB in trunk flash drive

Post by bohdan »

Well, apparently there appears to be differences in the second generation Wings with the kind of which drives to use. Referencing much info on this awesome forum, some have drives that work and some that don’t. I first bought a PNY 32 gb. Using this drive the bike didn’t recognize the drive. It only had on the USB indicator on the dash. I was able to try this on two bikes. My wife’s and mine. Reconfigured to the smallest bit rate of 128. So somebody suggested a San Disk Cruzer. I got a 64 gb. It at least was recognized by the bike , but said “ check USB”. Great. Reading the manual really didn’t say anything. So now what I do. Even though, I didn’t see anything about max size of The flash drive; since I have seen people going to 128k drives; I figured that I will start on a smaller drive. I got a San Disk 32 gb formatted offf the security software and voila. It worked. May be somebody else could use this info. Food for thought. Cheers

I used 16gb and 32 gb San Disk Cruzer in my 2017 with out any problems. They also work in my 2021 DCT Tour.

It's less about the drives and more about how they are formatted. Many come with goofy software and strange formatting. Best to wipe and low level format to suit the bike.
