auto volume control

Post by Goldwing Girl »

I have 2015 gl1800 Goldwing. I turn the CVS on for my radio to have it adjust the volume for my speed. It doesn't work on my bike. My husband has a 2014 Goldiwng and his works just fine. I went into the Mode button on my bike and made sure i had it turned on. It shows up on my screen that it is activated (it looks like a little eye) yet it does not raise my radio volume as i go faster or lower it when i slow down. Any idea what the problem is. I would love to fix it but not sure what the problem is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If it's like the older models, there will be a speed sensor signal to control it. You could check that is working. Do you have a wiring diagram?

I think my husband does for his bike. It will be the same for mine. We will check for that sensor. That would make sense if that went bad. Thanks for the help.

Would you happen to know where that would be located on a 2015. Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forum.

There is a range of settings on how much the volume increases; three for speakers and two for headset.

From the owner's manual:

To automatically increase volume as the speed of the motorcycle increases. Push
the VOLUME knob/button until ‘‘AUTO VOL SPK’’ (‘‘Auto Speaker Vol’’) is
displayed (page 98). To select the volume control of headset, push the
VOLUME knob/button until ‘‘AUTO VOL HS’’ (‘‘Auto Headset Vol’’) is
displayed (page 98). Then, within 5 seconds, change the AVC setting.
AUTO VOL SPK has four settings ï HI (High), MID (Mid), LO (Low), and
OFF (Off).
AUTO VOL HS has three settings ï HI (High), LO (Low), and OFF (Off).

Thank you so much. I feel like a real dope now. That is what was wrong with my volume adjustment. It’s been so long since I had a Goldwing I forgot about that setting. Thanks again. You fixed my issue. 👍😀
