Darkside air pressure

Post by toanogreen »

I just went darkside. I put on a Bridgestone Run Flat 195/55/16 like many recommended. What is the best air pressure to run?
I noticed on my maiden voyage the ride was not as smooth as with the normal bike tire (and that tire had 15000 miles on it). I put in 40 psi. I have my suspension set at 22-23 and it ran smooth with the regular tire. I'm 270 lbs if that makes a difference.

Lower the air pressure in the tire. I run mine at 30 pounds, shock at 15. But I am 100 lbs. lighter than you. When I pull my camper, I put the shock up to 25 and the tire at 32. You just have to play with the pressure to see what works best for you and your riding style

Very similar for me. The runflat does not need the higher pressure but I did notice a need to up the pressure when carrying a pillion or towing a loaded trailer.

Note that many tire pressure gauges are not precision tools. You may need to take several readings and take a mode average. One gauge may return different results than another. This is an experiment. Find what works for you.
