Help

Post by marvin97382 »

Hi, I need some help, 2007gl1800trike, not that it matters for this. When I turn on key, no audio, gas gage or audio screen. I checked all fuses but main "B"I can't open it and manual says dealer. Please help a vet.

Does it start ??? Be sure the battery connections are clean and tight, if all good there, be sure to have your battery professionally tested.

Professionally tested?

Amateur testing of the battery might be sufficient.

What is the resting voltage of the existing battery in the trike? This means do NOT try to turn anything on - simply make a voltage measurement and report the results.

Do you know how old the battery is?

When I had that kind of problems with my old 1500 it was because of a bad relay. Are any tailights, or brake lights also not working? Do you have trailer lights wired into the lightng system?

Thank you all for your input, The battery is about 2 mo. old and It's been down for approx 1 mo. while waiting to get a new output shaft after destroying fwd u joint. Also, as some of you suggested the battery was dead. So after charging it, it fired right up but, now coming from the speakers is a loud almost electronic snapping every 2-3 seconds. Any suggestions?

Don't over look the simple stuff. When diagnosing electrical stuff, especially on 5th gen Wings, always start at the beginning ... see post #2. Yes ... I saw that your battery was replaced. Weather you are using the old battery or the new one, it is time for whatever battery that is being used to prove it is worthy to be in your Wing. In the PS industry, bad new batteries seems a common occurrence.

So it reads through this reply and your original post that you don't keep the battery on a tender? Not a good idea. Keep it on a tender if not riding daily. Your battery will give longer life if you do.

As to the noise coming from the speakers, disconnect the battery for an hour, then restart the bike without touching the throttle until the cooling fans cycle on and off again. Then shut off the bike. This will reset the computer on board(ECM). Then report back.

So no more snapping noise from the speakers? Good!
Just passing along what I've learned over the past 12+ years on here and the other wing forums
