Tpms batteries.

Post by Neverbeenherebefore »

I'm putting new tires on my 2010 Airbag and decided to change the batteries in the tpms units.
Upon further inspection I see that the 2 units have different numbers, oops, i didn't keep track of which on goes where. The Honda dealer list them as the same part number. Does anyone know which one goes to which tire?

Also the rubber grommet on the Air stem is over 18 bucks from Honda, has anyone used an alternative?
Thanks in advance

Install a battery in one and place it near the bike. See what is detected, and what errors out.

Unfortunately, the Honda system turns one light on for any error so no way to tell one sensor from the other. The two sensors have different set points from the factory.

I can't remember for certain, but do you have to reprogram the sensors after changing batteries? The TPMS reset tool will let you program either sensor to either set point so even if they get reversed, you can change the sensors. As an aside, those with run flat rear tires prefer the set points reversed to coincide with the lower rear tire pressures usually used with RF tires.

Regardless, as long as you check your pressure regularly, the TPMS is best used to identify a flat.

Thanks for your comments, from what I have read you don't have to reset the sensors after battery replacement. I have the batteries replaced now and its a 50/50 chance to get them back in the correct tire. After some more thought I'm not really that concerned if I get it wrong, Ill just change them during the next tire change. Thanks all.
