Just replaced my Yuasa oem GYZ20L with a new on. It is AGM and i somewhat read what they are. My question(s) is this. The dealer says its come factory activated. I assume that means i dont have to "fill it." SO am i suppose to charge this battery before i install it in the bike? Again, hearing "charge it with at least 3 amp charger first to get it to proper voltage, assuming thats like 14.2 or something. Asked if i could put it on my battery tender which is 1.25 amp. I have been using this for years for winter storage only and at spring, the battery is 100%. Also told that i should "charge" the battery every few months to make the battery last longer. Honestly, i have had 4 wings and i have never charged the battery other than winter storage with battery tender on from day 1 until spring breakout.
So if someone can simplify(if thats possible nowadays)the process...Thanx
Ride safe

You can use the battery as is and never hook it up to a charger and probably get years out of it.
But if you make sure it is fully charged before you use it first (a 1.5 amp trickle charger is fine) and use a trickle charger on it whenever not in use you could get double the life of the battery.
You can get the same results from a regular lead acid battery as well (except you need to check the fluid level on one of those).

You can hook it up to your battery tender to top it off before charging it with no issues. I usually buy the ones I have to activate myself and my Battery Tender Plus works just fine for charging them up. When I buy a new battery for my car I use the battery tender to top them off before I install them.

I replaced the almost 5 year old battery in my 06 a few months . I used Yuasa YUAM620BH YTX20HL-BS Battery, 310 CCA. I had to fill it with the liquid supplied, charged it in a low amp battery charger for several hours, works great. I put it on a tender whenever I park it in the garage, The old battery was in the bike when I bought it back in July so I changed it just for my pierce of mind.
