Dipstick issue

Post by Bel air »

Is it normal for the dipstick being impossible to remove when the engine is warm? I’ve changed the oil in the past and didn’t have any issue getting the dipstick out but today after a short ride decided to get the oil change done. Had to use pliers to move the darn thing, have a new one on order. Has anyone else had this problem?

This can happen when the O-ring gets old and shrinks leading to overtightening.

Thanks for the reply, new o ring and dipstick should be in Monday. Ordered dipstick due to scaring with channel locks to get open 🙈

Yes it is common. It's cause from expansion when hot.
