Clutch Slave cylinder removal (it's stuck)
Clutch Slave cylinder removal (it's stuck)
OK trying to remove the clutch slave cylinder and have undone and removed all 3 bolts and the the banjo bolt from the hose.
But the cover is not moving.
Reason for doing is I want to replace the seals and piston as the clutch fluid was very low as in the reservoir was empty and clutch dragging.
The Haynes manual and YouTube videos just say remove but nothing about how to remove if stuck.
Noticed on Goldwing Docs 1500 video there was a small place to put a screwdriver and twist but can't see anything similar on my 1800.
My 1800 is an 02/03 model with a 134000 miles on it and I brought it in September and not sure if the slave cylinder has ever been removed.
Also had the rear half of the front mudguard missing ( which I have now replaced ) when I brought the bike so so the front will have had more than usual road muck on it.
So are there any tips or suggestions or things I'm missing greatly appreciated.
Thanks Kev

Re: Clutch Slave cylinder removal (it's stuck)
There are a couple of alignment dowel pins that can be a pretty tight fit. Too late now, but one way is to use the cylinder to remove itself. Remove the bolts but leave the line on. Then pull the clutch and give the slave some gentle taps with a plastic hammer if needed and the clutch springs will push it off the dowels. Since you have already pulled the line, you can use a slide hammer screwed into where the banjo bolt was. A few taps should pull it out without needing to pry on anything.

Thanks.
I might actually try put the banjo bolt back in and re bleed and try that.
Don't have a slide hammer but did think of trying to make a puller dose anyone know the tread size of the bolt ?

With a 2x4 and hammer, try tapping on it.

OK it's now out
Came down this morning and had another look and it had popped out.
So I guess the Goldwing Pixies must have come down at night and did the job, Cant believe none of the you guys suggested leaving it to the Pixies.
In all serious thanks guys I guess the combination of hitting it and re-bleeding and pressurising the system must have took there toll and loosened it.
It looks a bit of a mess and I can see why it was stuck and will try to post some pics when I work out how to.
Might even consider looking for another slave cylinder

For the cost of a new slave, I wouldn’t fight with it. $98 at Mrcycles.comKevUK wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 2:22 am OK it's now out

Thanks
I'm in the UK though so a lot of US company's won't ship there now since Brexit due to all the paper work and those that do the postage and import tax from the USA can make things very expensive.

I've seen some folks in Europe using https://www.cmsnl.com/ for OEM Honda parts.
A specific UK source that is often mentioned is https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/

Yes there are, but generally parts and bikes tend to more expensive here than in the US
Even bikes made in the uk tend to be cheaper in that states.
Thanks anyway.
Looks like after cleaning all the crud off the slave cylinder should be ok.
I've got new seals and a new piston.

Of course, everything is more expensive in the UK.
You can always move to the US.
