knock sensor brand?

Post by fibersport »

I know, nobody ever has a bad knock sensor. I must actually be the lucky one that does. I swapped sensors since it seemed to be easier than pulling off the whole top of the bike and the code switched to the other side. Put them back as original and it once again swapped sides. The engine runs as it always has, no stumble, and seems just as peppy as always. The failed sensor is very rusty on the outside so I'm guessing some moisture got inside and took it out. My question is has anyone used an off brand sensor? $125 for a sensor is pretty salty, espeically when you can get a Honda brand one for a car for about $35. I've done some reading and they pretty much say they are interchangeable with the exception of the electrical connector. I'm leaning towards trying one but wanted to see if anyone else ever has.

Well it was indeed a bad knock sensor. I also found an interchange that cost $25 delivered.

Really shocked at the amount of ads, it really degrades this site.

You are lucky it was the sensor.
I know many say it is never the sensor, it is always the computer, but you did the easy test, swap the sensor and if it follow the sensor, it is not the computer.

Glad you found an alternative that works for you, and at a price it could go out several times and you still are ahead.
