in addition to all the above comments, I have a personal policy developed over the years to take a can with me each time I purchase a used bike to ride home. I have done this over 10 times now. The most notable instance I picked up a pacific coast that sat for a few years. I put in a high concentration of seafoam and headed toward home. Top speed was 35 mph for many miles. Gradually sputtered and popped less and less until full power was achieved to finish trip home.
Another notable "miracle" was when I figured out on my gl1500 that a stalling problem while riding was a clogged fuel cap.
I was about to soak it in paint thinner when someone suggested that would probably damage the fuel cap, so I tried overnight soak in seafoam. Eureka! problem solved forever since.

Re: Sea foam
When I am going on a multi-day trip, my first fillup is with the recommended amount for my 6.75 gallon tank, I will add it twice during the trip. It keeps the injectors nice and clean for a good spray.
It ain't the destination but the getting there. You are not lost until you run out of gas.
