The pixels on my display were going bad so I purchased a replacement screen on ebay. After installing the screen, it lights up with a grey background, but that is it, no color or anything else. I put my old screen back in and the same thing, a lighted grey background, plus you could see the bad pixels. I then put the replacement screen in after checking all the connections carefully, everything looked good, but same issue. I then put my old screen back in and nothing, not even a lighted grey background.
Did I do something bad to the PCB? or is it possible my replacement screen is bad?
I'm not sure where to start to diagnose the problem.
Help Appreciated!

Yes, you most likely fried your Navi unit. Most of the ebay replacements are not identical plug and play units. The screen is the same but the pinout is different. You have to modify the replacement to match the Honda pinout. There is a long thread about this. It is not a fix for the average user. Not to be crass, but basically if you don't have an oscilloscope and know how to use it, send this job to someone that does.
The part number on the screen is usually not an exact match to the original unit. I believe the data sheets were posted in the long LCD topic. I don't recall if it was on this site or goldwingfacts.

Re: Replacement LCD on 2012 GL1800 Not Working
I have something else to add:
1st, I realize I did bad by not checking the part number on the display I received. My 2012 uses screen #LQ065T9BR55U. The display I received is #LQ065T9BR51U. So I will request a return. That is the easy part.
I may have damaged my PCB though. The ribbon cable came loose from the PCB. The black connector on the PCB came loose and I'm not sure if it was supposed to. I pushed it back in place and it seemed tight, but I wasn't sure, so I decided to pull it off one more time to take a picture to share and broke one of the pins that hold it to the PCB. See my images below. IS IT REPAIRABLE?

That connector was soldered to the board. It doesn't look like any pads were ripped off, so a new connector can be soldered into place. Anyone that does SMT rework can do that job as long as the right part is available. It will have to be examined under a microscope to be sure everything is intact. Depending on when it broke if you are lucky it might have saved your Navi unit. Typically, the wrong display burns out the Navi unit in the trunk. I don't recall if any damage happens to the PCB under the display. I am going from memory. Like I said go find the really long LCD thread and there is a lot more info. AFAIK, no one has repaired a blown Navi unit, yet. Everything is repairable, but not everything is economically repairable. Used Navi units are available so that's what the last person did.

Thanks Rambozo,
I will look for someone who can fix my board and hope for the best.

Re: Replacement LCD on 2012 GL1800 Not Working
Well, ALL I can say is THANK YOU!
I found someone who could solder my connector back onto my PCB, I cut out pin 19 on the ribbon cable, put it back together and WALLA! It works.
TT
And for others looking to replace the display, the part number of the display I received is: LQ065T9BR51U, not the part number listed on ebay, LQ065T9BR55U, but after isolating pin 19, it works.
