air filter housing seals

Post by gunkle »

I just started servicing a new to me 2004 1800a and found that the air filter housing is missing both seals. I can't seem to find a place to buy just the seals. They only come with the housing and spending $100 to get them seems a bit overkill. Anyone have a suggestion? is there an alternative? I'm not really fond of the idea of an RTV type gasket maker as it could get messy and be a pain to deal with in the future. I've search this forum for a bunch of terms and came up empty. I'm sure someone else has had this issue but can't seem to find an answer.

If you live in the USA, JustWings - GL1800 Specialty Servcie and Repair can spare a couple of them. I'll even mail them for free. Send me a PM with your address.

On FB, I've seen no PM. It probably better to send one here. The PM link is at the top right.

Thanks you Sir. I can't believe they aren't available to buy on their own.

I get them because air boxes are often replaced because of stripped screw holes. Before trashing the air box, I always remove the seal. I probably have at least a dozon of them. Sometime we need one when a 5th gen comes in and wants the k&N air filter replace with an OEM filter.
