Traxxion Suspension
I know the question has been asked before, but I don't want to open an old thread. My question is for those who have upgraded their suspension with Traxxion parts. How much of the upgrade have you done, was it worth it? I have a '14 Gold Wing with the ABS. Thanks in advance.

Re: Traxxion Suspension
My '02 had the "Full Monty" done, and it rode amazing.
It came that way from the previous owner, so can't compare what it was like before, but I know I have ridden a '17 1800 and it felt much worse than my 15 year older bike.
I would never own a '01-'17 1800 without the Full Monty, even though it is almost $4,000 installed.
I know several have done the "poor mans" Traxxion (Progressive spring in rear, new progressive inserts in front, and a steering brace) and say it improves handling and the ride is much better. It is like 1/2 the price.

Re: Traxxion Suspension
I had full monty on my '06. Installed at Traxxion. Didn't think much of it until I realized that pegs no longer touched around tight turns. BTW, it was already dark side, and Traxxion didn't complain.

I know people say we spend too much money on our rides, but I can't hear them when I'm 1000 miles away!

Re: Traxxion Suspension
How much of a difference will it make to upgrade suspension on a "02 wing, and should all springs be upgraded at the same time?

Re: Traxxion Suspension
If you have a problem to solve with your current fork (leak, wobble) then I would suggest (what I have done recently) to use their springs and their procedure which disabled anti dive. Also, I installed fork bracket at the same time (Kuryakyn). On rear shock I toped off oil to the preload motor so the controls work full 1 to 25. After all this the suspension has a nice solid feel, no wobble. All this incl fork parts is about $600 so I think one should have a reason to do this.

Re: Traxxion Suspension
I have replaced the stock fork springs with
Traxxion springs along with disabling the anti-dive valve. This made a world of difference plus when it it time to replace the bushings or replace the fluid, I can do it without sending the forks back to Traxxion.

Re: Traxxion Suspension
I replace aftermarket springs with progressive monotubes and I thought that was a better upgrade than springs alone. I also replaced rear suspension with a 17 shock and race tech springs for my weight and that made the whole suspension come together.
It's not what you buy, it's what you build.

Re: Traxxion Suspension
I tried the monotubes for about two weeks before I went to the Traxxion springs. The MT gave me a rougher ride and I felt every bump as and crack in the road.

Re: Traxxion Suspension
Installed the Traction "full monty" on my ex-2006 1800. When I bought it, perused the forums for information on issues with the 1800 and suspension was always on the list. Suspension is critical to ride quality, tire longevity, and motorcycle performance, but we - myself included, try to minimize expense and upgrade the suspension - it's not inexpensive to say the least. We will spend inordinate amounts of cash on many items, but because of expense, not so much on suspension. Any suspension upgrade is good, but there is a good/better/best scenario available.
Upgrading the ex-1800 to the "full monty" was well worth it. An issue is time, we all get there and nothing is in the same place as when we were 20. A motorcycle is the same, we get used to the way it operates and rides, same with our other vehicles. It's not until we replace old parts with new, such as shocks/struts that we realize how degraded the vehicle performance and ride quality was.
Not advocating going for the best, cost/budget is a factor. Any upgrade is better than no upgrade.

Re: Traxxion Suspension
It is nice to have the front end actually give me a great ride without locking up the fork when the brakes are applied which gives me a lot more control especially then the road is rough.Ramnight wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 10:45 pm I have replaced the stock fork springs with

I know it's been awhile, but I'm looking for a better ride, mainly. My wife especially complains about feeling some bumps, primarily at railroad tracks and similar obstructions.GoldWingrGreg wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 11:47 amAre you after a better ride, sportier handling, or both ???rdwells196241 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 4:44 pm I know the question has been asked before, but I don't want to open an old thread. Re: Traxxion Suspension
Then you'll need their rear spring/shock assembly for your wife. If you want a better ride for you, at least be new springs up front, and possibly their catriges too.

Re: Traxxion Suspension
From what I hear and have read
Changing the preload line for rear shock to steel braided is a much needed upgrade for the 1800
Traxxion Dynamics & Race Tech both change them
Had Traxxion do front forks on my 1500 about 7 years ago
Got rid of anti-dive
Bike doesn't squat when stood up off side stand
No more air adjustments in fork legs
Smoother ride, don't feel bumps and pot holes as much thru hand grips

I can't wait to get the full Monty done on my scoot! It'll have to wait until next year, though. Too many other expenses right now.

I have been talking with my nephew that lives in Kodak, TN that he needs to make an appointment at Traxxion and ride his 012 Wing down the two lane roads to Woodstock, Ga. and get the Full Monty done.
He needs to spend some of his money before it gets even moldier
Maybe you two could get a discount for two at one time and make a day out of it. Could even compare notes going down and back.
Trying to help you young guys spend your money and get a better ride.
I like what Traxxion did for the front end of my 1500
Best of luck
