engine side cover
I've got a 2001 GW and lost my left side engine cover. After checking online, it seems I can find used ones for about $50 but they all seem to be pretty scratched up. New Honda parts are about $250 - $375. Neither one is acceptable so that leaves aftermarket new which run about $100 for both. Has anyone have any experience with aftermarket engine covers of any brand that they can recommend?

Re: engine side cover
The engine covers usually get lost because of worn, missing, or incorrect gromets. Each cover uses 4 gromets to keep them in place. Usually the tension gromets are missing. My advise is to watch eBay and wait for a good, used, OEM cover. In the mean time, inspect your gromets. Never should they be greased, or secured with nylon ties, and most important is that they be OEM. Be sure to inspect the side cover gromets too.

Re: engine side cover
Thanks, all good suggestions but in this case it was my fault, I forgot to fully install it after I had it off. I will say, the 1800's seem to hold the covers on better than they did on my 1500, personally I think the tethers are a good idea especially on the 1500's.
