can't raise on center stand
I am 79 and in good shape but I recently lost around 20 pounds and now I just can't get it up on the center stand without first raising the back tire on a 1" board !
Does any one have a link to buy a lever extension of some type that can help?
I could fabricate one but I hate to reinvent the wheel !
I am sure there must be something out there !!!

Re: can't raise on center stand
The only thing I have seen are the Ride-Off stands that are shorter so the rear wheel is still touching the ground and you can ride off, and get them on the stand with reverse.

There are offerings of extensions that increase the leverage of the step.
Suggest you look at the Goldwing part specialist shops online.

The board trick works great. Just carry a small piece of plywood with you. Why go to all the extra trouble?

That's not just a motorcycle. It's a Gold Wing.

Re: can't raise on center stand
There are some extensions but they are not cheap as a short board. Set the rear shock at 25 ride on to a short board, up it comes easy peasy. Short board fits in trunk just in case I need to lift while on the road. I am 69 & 150 lbs so just straight up with no help is a real chore.

It works quite well. Here is a You Tube video of the installation and operation.

You will notice that at the end of the video, he puts the bike on the center stand in his stocking feet.
Well worth the money in my book.

Re: can't raise on center stand
If you use the correct technique, prying between the center stand and the rear handle while gently pulling backwards, it doesn't matter what you weigh. I taught my teenage daughter this years ago, and she was able to easily put my 1500 onto its center stand using this technique:

I've had my F6B for 2 weeks now and still cannot raise my bike on the center stand. I raise my BMW touring bike easily.

Re: can't raise on center stand
I've been putting my Gold Wings on the center stand for over twenty years with no problems at all.
However, as life goes on and old father time takes his toll, there comes a time when some assistance will be needed no matter how adept you were at putting the bike on its center stand. Some of us have reached that time and we need assistance occasionally. The "Helping Hand" by PhilsFarkels (http://www.philsfarkels.com/) was made with us in mind.

Re: can't raise on center stand
Well, I have followed some of the advice on here and placed a piece of wood under the rear wheel and I was able to get the bike on the center stand! Thank you!

Re: can't raise on center stand
At home in my garage, both of my cold wings roll up onto a 3/4 inch piece of wood under the rear wheel. That way I can put them on the center stand when I park them in the garage.
On the road, I use Philsfarkles helping hand for my GL 1800.

Re: can't raise on center stand
I am a 65 year old woman, 160lbs, 5'5" and I always use the 1" board method for my Gold Wing. The Gold Wing actually goes up on the center stand easier than my 550cc Yamaha Maxim!! I use the 1" board for the Yamaha too. Great bit of advice I received years ago.

Re: can't raise on center stand
As usual, Wing Adm has the correct answer....get the center stand DOWN, then just let the bike rest on it in the center position, (both ends of the center stand on the floor and stable) grab the handlebar and the grab rail, (DONT horse it) then simply EASE it back with the foot pull while gently pulling UP on the grab rail at the same time and let physics do the rest!...A 100 lb person can do this IF he or she knows HOW. Now the Prez (and I) will both tell you it didnt go this easy on the first try, me I used to work in a bike shop and put hundreds of all types on their center stands, once you understand and get the fluid motion going its really a piece of cake....WATCH AND LISTEN TO HIS VIDEO then go out there and spend an hr or two practicing, you'll get it.

Re: can't raise on center stand
I don't have any issues with the Goldwing yet. I just sold my 1998 Concours this year. Center stand was a joke. It was so out of proportion that I used a small piece of 2x4 to put it on the center stand. I agree proper technique is a must. A little cheater piece of wood doesn't hurt.
