Preview: Bummed about code 25
My 2001 GL1800 threw a mil code 25 so I swapped the knock sensors. Still the the same code. Checked connections and continuity and all good. Replaced ECM with a factory new ECM. Could not even get it to cycle through the code clearing and it quit idling and threw up code 25 again. I am stumped. Any other ideas or anyone else have this issue?

You checked the wires from the sensor back to the ECM, that there was both continuity and no shorts to any other wires in the harness?
A good visual inspection of the harness looking for pinch damage or rodent munching, too.

Re: Bummed about code 25
Thank you for responding. Followed the harness to visually check for rodent and pinch points. This code would present itself after 100- 120 miles of riding initially. Now it won’t idle enough to clear itself. Could it be a ground issue?

Re: Bummed about code 25
The knock circuit consits for 3 parts. The knock sensor, related wiring, and an ECM. Since swapping the sensors didn't change anything, and a new OEM ECM caused DTC (digital trouble code) to get thrown again, your harness is likely your issue. You should know that DTC codes are stored within the ECM, and new one will have none stored. Becuase its still throwing the same code, and your issue is now worst, which is usually how electrial systems continue to fail, it is likely that there is something wrong with your harness. As Rambozo has said, inspect it for chew marks. Harnesses for your Wing are no longer available. Here at JustWings, we installed the last new one probably 5-7 years ago. If you can find what is wrong with yours, it's possibly repairable. If your issue is not rhodent related, hanesses have wire crimps in them that can fail too. A failing crimp sometimes really hard to find.

Re: Bummed about code 25
After installing the new ECM, I took it for a ride of about 111 miles and it threw the code again came back home shut it off . I have since checked all the grounds I can find and cleaned off and resecured them. My next plan is to take the top back off again and check the harness again and I did check the pin circuit or the pin at the Knock sensor to make sure it was secured, I will follow the wiring up and see if I can find a break or a connection problem somewhere in the harness. Thank you for the response.
