2014 rear brake drag.

Post by rlhill2863 »

Ok guys I need some help. First some background. Bought a new 2014 Goldwing in Oct 2014. Had the brake recall done in April 2016, bike had 17,000 miles. I do all my own maintenance. Flush brake and clutch fluid every 2 years following the sequence in the owners manual. No issues till Aug this year and yes the fluid was just changed in June of this year. Rear brake got hot enough to cause a small fire. I repaired the bike with used rotor, caliper, rear wheel, new rear master cylinder, brake pads and Henry's final drive. Now my issue and need for Help. The rear brake line will not bleed. I thought ok just follow the bleed sequence as outlined in the service manual. The front brake lever would not depress, so I tried the other ones in no particular order. This is what I found. Left front lower would bleed. The right front upper would bleed. The right front lower would not bleed. The anti-dive would not bleed. Now the back upper has full motion of the pedal with no resistance with the fluid level not changing. I took the bleeder valve out and pumped the pedal and nothing. Did the same thing to the rear lower with valve out there was a little pressure and I could hear some gurgling. My suspicion is one or both of the front master cylinders. Sorry for being so winded but I wanted to explain as much as I could.

Well I figured it out thanks to Viking's post on Jan 25th 2016 post. The sequence he used was different than the service manual I have. I saved his post to my favorites page.
