Re: clean up
Try using a damp towle and a wet soft brush.
Re: clean up
I 'ALWAYS' dreaded washing my bikes, cars & trucks. Power-wash was my friend, tho now expensive.
Bike washing is a pain with all the seemingly endless NOOKS & CRANNIES.
Not to mention those areas a 'rag-on-a-stick' gets caught on nearly everything.
Then there's the chrome to polish!!!
I found a couple tools at a thrift store that, so far, is the best I've ever used.
They're basically really soft mini car was bristles. (see pix)
I've gotten dirty grease & oil on one and with a stronger mix of
'Dawn' in the bucket, swishing around it came out almost like new.
The ball screws on a broom handle, great for sore backs, the other a hand held item.

When I do one thing, I'll side-step a little & learn few more things.

Re: clean up
thanks for the hints.I knew a water hose was not the answer
Re: clean up
Home garden hose is fine, it's the high pressure that gets into the electrical system.
Look around the bikes insides you'll see connectors are (should be) pointing down.
One bike I used a zip-lock sandwich bag to encase a connection, mainly because I was using a pressure washer.
It was the only connection not well covered, never had an issue.
My GL1100 under the seat I used a plastic grocery bag. Forgot about it & 2 years later went in for something & the bag kept the dust out.
Plastics are good where you need'm, bad for animals if tossed randomly.
Hope the duster suggestion works for you. I (LOL, almost) love'm. Sure makes the chore SO-so much easier.
