New goldwing owner need some help

Post by jrw »

Hi to all.
I just bought a used 2008 wing that does not have the owners manual with it. My question is how does one change the opening ceramoney. It has the couples name that were the previous owners, the bike was purchased from a dealer, and I'm waiting on the manual to come in. but if someone would be kind enough to walk me through this I would be very grateful
Thanks in advance
JRW

From the owner's manual:

  1. Push the MODE button to cycle to the ‘‘OPENING/ENDING CEREMONY’’ screen.
  2. Push the DISP. button to cycle between on/off of the display.
  3. Push the MODE button to select the ‘‘SET’’ function.
  4. Selecting the ‘‘SET’’ function locks in the on/off option for future use.
Special Message for Opening/Ending Ceremony

  4. Use the DISP. button to select the ‘‘SPL’’ function. The display should now show ‘‘SPECIAL!’’ in the middle line.
  5. Push the TRIP button to select the ‘‘NEXT’’ function. The display should now show ‘‘CHANGE OK?’’ in the middle line.

Rob thanks for the welcome it is my first wing and so far it is so sweet. We haven't been able to take any trips yet but just some local rides around here it sure does beat my old vulcan.

Use the Navi controls on the Right side. Press "Menu" and navigate to the "Opening Ceremony" select it to change and then save. Hope this helps, as I am not close to my bike.

I've got a 2010, WITHOUT the Navi. My buttons are SETUP, INFO, TRIP, DIM. I've tried several times, using the manual, and can't seem to get the greeting changed.
Obviously I'm missing something here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you ever get this figured out? I have the same buttons as you. I have a 2008.

Thank you!

It's been a couple of years, so with 38 posts he might not be around much...

Do all of your buttons work for their proper functions otherwise?

Hello,

Yes all the buttons seem to work as needed, I just don't have the usual buttons that someone else posted.

And now I'm leaking fuel from behind the front fairing :) Nothing is ever easy. Someone posted that maybe it's from the Evap Cannister from an over filled gas tank, but I'm down to 1/8 tank and still getting leaking fuel, but haven't taken off the fairings or anything to troubleshoot that. It wasn't leaking after we filled it up the first time on Friday and wasn't any gas smell on Sunday when I took it for it's first ride, but then throughout the day I started to smell fuel and then noticed it was leaking. It's only leaking when the engine is running. I will be working on troubleshooting that today.

I recommend starting a new thread about that.
