GL1800 and GL1800A
I own a 2001 GL1800 , when looking at the recall for the Goldwing, i noticed that there is GL1800 and GL1800A , what is the deference and how would i know if my bike is a GL1800A or not
. Thank you.

Re: GL1800 and GL1800A
I think it has to do with years, but I do not know for sure where the changes occur. I think the "A" is 2001 to 2005, and the "B" is 2006-2008 but I cannot swear to it.

Re: GL1800 and GL1800A
I thought the A signified ABS, the GL1800 is the regular wing and the GL1800A has the ABS.

Re: GL1800 and GL1800A
This is entirely another possibility and one that makes sense. Thanks Gary for having more on the ball than I seem to, lol. I found the information I provided on a custom seat site, so it may not have anything to do with the nomenclature that would be used in a recall notice from Honda.thrasherg wrote:I thought the A signified ABS, the GL1800 is the regular wing and the GL1800A has the ABS.

Check your title or vehicle registration. The model should be listed there.

Re: GL1800 and GL1800A
The "A" stands for ABS on the 2001 thru 2005 Gold Wings as Thrasherg (Gary) indicated. In other words, GL1800A means you have a Wing with ABS, and the non-ABS designator is simply GL1800.
From 2006-2012, the model designator changed to reflect the various levels or packages, such as ABS, NAV, Premium Audio, Comfort Package, and/or Airbag.
Also note that not all Wings have ABS as someone implied.

If you want to read up on the differences between the model years which includes problems/recalls that were issued, the link below chronicles it very well for the 1800.

Re: GL1800 and GL1800A
Had this same problem when looking to buy a manual.
When looking for my 2008, I found a manual with the cover page 2006-2008 GL1800 and another one with 2006-2010 GL1800/A. Based on the models covered page, I think the /A is a reference to the manual version and not the motorcycle. The non /A covers 7 models and the /A covers 9 models. (which is all the non/A models PLUS the '08-'10 models)
Both cover American and Canadian models and all options available.
