Units are paired for intercom on channel 'A'. To turn on press and hold phone button for 5 seconds. To talk push channel A button wait for beep. I prefer to use buttons instead of voice command which is fully functional but not my preference.
Units work fine up to about a mile in open terrain a little less in hilly areas way less in the heavy woods. Batteries last for all day ride 10+ hours, longest day we did was out West last year was 14 hours both units shut off around the same.
